Our Top 5 Tips for a Festive Holiday Party
Are your holiday party guests in need of a little extra spirit this time of year? It’s time to throw a holiday bash to remember without adding any stress to your season. Try following our top 5 tips for planning a holiday party that will seriously wow your attendees.
1. Deck the Halls
When guests arrive at your party, the first thing they’ll want to do is take their coats off and have a look around. Use this to your advantage! Set the mood with candles or string lighting. Then toss some holly, greenery, or other decor on the walls. Finish off the look by setting the table with a holiday centerpiece and adding some festive throw pillows/blankets to the sofa in order to cozy everything up. For an office party, you can even get staff involved by hosting a holiday desk competition. (This also gets your employees excited about the upcoming party!) Wherever your party is, take a couple of hours to invest in the space beforehand. We promise it’ll make a huge difference in the long run.
2. Plan Your Music Ahead
The last thing you want to do right before your event is scramble to find a DJ, or even a speaker and random playlist. If you’re hiring a DJ, do that ASAP to avoid any more stress. Even without a DJ, it’s worth taking the time to curate a specific list of songs to fit the mood of your holiday party. This is also a great time to consider your guestlist. Think of your attendees as an “audience.” What type of music do your guests listen to? How old are the attendees? Making a playlist unique to your “audience” means that your guests will be more likely to feel the holiday spirit with just the right song.
3. Create a Signature Cocktail
Try capturing the holidays in a cup! From a mulled wine to eggnog to spiked hot chocolate, the possibilities are truly endless here. Try this recipe:
- To a pitcher, add red wine, cranberry juice, and a little brandy.
- Toss in some slices of orange and lime, a few cinnamon sticks, fresh cranberries, and 1/2 cup of sugar. Refrigerate for 4 hours.
- Right before serving, top it all off with some seltzer water. Congratulations, you’ve just made your first holiday sangria!
If your partygoers are underage, we can still swap soda for a non-alcoholic punch (or even holiday mocktails for a teenage crowd.)
4. Send Guests Home with a Gift
Now this may seem like a lot of work but hear us out, even adding in a small thank you can leave guests talking about your holiday party for weeks, PLUS these look incredible laid out on an entryway table (see tip #1.) You can throw together something as simple as a holiday thank you card and some sugar cookies, or take it to another level and create goody bags with all of your favorite stocking stuffers. Wanna know the secret to good party favors? Guests are much more receptive to taking home something they can eat! This extra touch adds so much holiday spirit. Feel up to taking it even a step further? Arrange a white elephant game as a holiday party activity or even a Secret Santa gift exchange.
